Casual Friday

Today I wanted to be casual so I went with jeans and my favorite tee, but I also wanted to look fashionable. Throwing on a few accessories like this head scarf and crocheted sweater gives the outfit personality with out taking away from the comfort. As a side note- I thought about not wearing this scarf today since I wore it yesterday, but that’s just not real life. And I’m about showing real life style.  I wear this scarf about four out of seven days a week from September to May. When you go shopping try to find pieces you love that will work into your wardrobe in several ways. The item will become a signature piece and when you love what you wear you feel good.

Day & Night

I’m headed to a friend’s going away happy hour after work today (I know, who would leave NYC?). I needed a look that would take me straight from the office to cocktails. This shirt is obviously not ground breaking, but it is my favorite. It is so versatile and adds interest in place of a plain t-shirt. Heeled boots and a necklace makes the look pulled together and evening worthy. And I’m off… cheers!

This skirt is actually a tube dress that I wore to the park often this summer. This time of year I start regretting not getting full use out of my summer items before I have to pack them away. As a dress this is a little summery for September, and more importantly not really appropriate for work. That being said, I wasn’t ready to give up on it. I knew the color would totally transition to Fall. Today I had the bright idea to wear it around my waist as a skirt with a belt and heeled boots to dress it up a little… it is tie dye after all. The brown works nicely with the forest green and makes the look more seasonal. From swimsuit cover-up to knee length skirt- what more can you ask of a $8 Forever 21 impulse buy?

Feels Like Fall!

This time of year it is easy to default to jeans and a t-shirt everyday. Transitioning looks from Summer to Fall is difficult, but worth the extra effort. It gives you an opportunity to combine articles of clothing that may not normally work together. Sandals and jackets, shorts and sweaters, booties and sun dresses, the list goes on, but the bottom line is these can all be worn together during that magical time from about September 15th through, depending on mother nature, most of October. Today I put my new favorite layering piece, a maxi sweater vest, with a maxi dress and platforms. For the chilly walk to work in the morning I added a light jacket.
